St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center Receives $20,000 Grant for Alzheimer's Research
St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center received a $20,000 research grant from the Turn the Corner Foundation in support of Phase II of an Alzheimer's research project which is being conducted by St. Catherine's staff pathologist, Dr. Alan MacDonald. His research seeks to determine if Alzheimer's disease is a consequence of Lyme Borreliosis and other Tick-Borne Diseases. St. Catherine's received $18,000 for Phase I of Dr. MacDonald's promising research, which was completed in June of 2005. Dr. MacDonald is affiliated with the Harvard University School of Medicine, Mclean Hospital Brain Bank, and has been accepted and published in medical journals on Lyme Disease and related disorders in Vienna,Sept 2005, Philadelphia, Oct. 2005, Madrid, July, 2006 and London, Jan. 2006.
